Dog Training Classes

Dog Training at the Zoom Room

We’ve redefined dog training here at the Zoom Room, where you and your dog will develop skills you never dreamed possible. Zoom Room dog training classes are specially designed to encourage dogs to build confidence and success as they master all kinds of skills in a simple, step-by-step process. And we utilize only positive dog training methods, which your entire family can easily master and embrace.

Whether it’s puppy training, dog obedience, agility training, or one of our many enrichment offerings, our dog training classes help you learn about your dog and get the behaviors you need – while you work as a team to communicate effectively. Whether you want to try your hand at something new, or you really, really need to give your dog something structured to do, the Zoom Room has a class for you.

Most importantly, the Zoom Room difference is that we don’t train dogs. We train the people who love them. You! You can’t drop your dog off. You will be actively engaged in your dog’s training at every step of the way. Not only is this great fun – and a wonderful way to learn to communicate more effectively with your dog – but it also means that what you learn at the Zoom Room doesn’t have to stay at the Zoom Room. Dog training lessons will smoothly and naturally transition to your life at home and out and about town with your dog.

Levels Dog Training

Levels training is a flexible, personalized approach to dog training designed for the busy owner. You work at your own pace, and graduate to the next level when you and your dog are ready to move up. You can attend class as frequently as you like, or skip a week or two if your schedule changes. You’ll never fall behind because everyone in class is at the same level working on the same skills.

Orientation and Evaluations

When you begin dog training classes at the Zoom Room, you can start off one of two ways. If you’re starting off at square one, you will first be required to attend an Orientation, after which you will begin classes in Basic Manners, which is our first level of obedience training.

Most students start at Basic Manners after attending an Orientation, and will be “graduated” to the next level when the instructor determines the dog and handler have mastered the skills needed to move on.

Orientation to the Zoom Room is a free session that lasts a half hour and which you’ll attend without your dog present. We will orient you to our facility and policies, get all of your vaccination records and other details in order, and we will cover some basics such as loading a clicker.

So you’ll come to Orientation, then begin Basic Manners, and once you graduate from that level, a whole range of new training options will open – such as more advanced obedience, or agility training or a wealth of enrichment training options through which you and your dog together will progress.

Or, if you’re NOT starting off at square one, if you and your dog already have some solid training under your belt and collar, we’ve got you covered! We make it easy for you to place out of beginner classes to get you right into the level where you belong.

All you need to do is schedule a thirty-minute Evaluation with us so we can ascertain your dog’s current skill level and make training recommendations. If you book an evaluation you do NOT need to attend the Orientation class. And if you have two dogs, they can both attend the Evaluation at no additional cost.

Dog Training Workshops

We also offer a variety of specialized workshops which require a six-week commitment. These include Shy Dog, Calm Down, Urban Herding, and our Scent Discrimination Workshop. You can learn more about all of these under the TRAIN section of the menu.
