October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

shyDid you know that October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month?  This is a great opportunity for animal lovers to consider dogs in need at local shelters.  Adopting can be a rewarding experience.  No matter what you are looking for, small, large, old, or young, you will find it in the shelter.  People don’t always realize that many of the homeless dogs are already trained and socialized.  You can skip right over the puppy months and start enjoying great companionship.

The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is running a special in October.  The adoption fee is half off for all dogs over 6 months of age.

Dogs that have been in shelters can exhibit shy personality with people and other dogs.  We know how challenging that can be and offer a class tailored to help them gain the confidence they need to enjoy the world around them.  Shy Dog class can change your newly adopted dog from a wallflower to a dog that is stepping out in the world.

Even if you aren’t ready to bring a new member into your household, visit a shelter, take a tour and spend a minute thanking those volunteers that make a difference in the dog’s lives who reside in there.

Have a Shy Dog? Whether from a shelter or not shy dogs are everywhere.
