Welcome to Zoom Room Milwaukee, providing exceptional dog training and the best in dog retail products for Milwaukee area dogs and their owners. We offer positive dog training in group or private classes in an indoor, climate-controlled facility. You can also rent the facility for birthday parties, meet-up groups or special events. Or sign up for Private Gym, a chance to get in some quality exercise time with your dog!
Private Gym is like an indoor playground for your dog – one with great music, lots of toys and an agility course, and all of the other amenities you could hope for in a wonderful smelling, spotless, climate-controlled environment! You can even come with your friends – up to three dogs per half-hour session. It’s a great chance to get in some off-leash exercise or play time with your dog, or to practice your agility or other training.
Birthday Parties and Doggy Disco®. You can throw a birthday party for your dog, or for your dog-loving kids, or an anniversary party for the day you rescued your dog. Or just about any other occasion for which you’d love to throw a party with lots of dogs in attendance as well as your friends and family. Our parties include a free mini-agility lesson for all your guests, set-up, clean-up, supervision, plates, cups, cutlery, and of course our famous Doggy Disco® with your choice of music and laser lights on the floor for the dogs to chase. We also include Doggy Donuts, yummy freshly made treats, to make the event unforgettable.
We also host events for Meetup groups, rescue organizations, charity fundraisers, companies, civic groups, singles mixers, and so on. Our weekly Agility League is incredibly fun – great friendly competition with trophies & prizes. Courses will be different every week and will require you and your dog to work as a team. This is a great way to keep up your dog’s agility training without taking a class!
Dog Training Classes
Foundations of Dog Training
This one hour class is the cornerstone for successfully training and building a solid lifelong relationship with your dog. You’ll learn the basics of how dogs learn, dog body language, communicating with your dog, how and why positive reinforcement training works and more. Puppy owners will also receive guidance on house training, nipping, socialization and other challenges of raising a puppy. Foundations is the first level class and is required for all new clients. It is to be attended without your dog. This class is complimentary when you purchase a class pack or workshop. Prerequisite: None. (Ongoing, multiple class times each week)
Obedience 1: Basic Manners
Obedience classes at the Zoom Room are designed to get you and your dog working on practical, effective behaviors immediately. You will learn all the basics for getting – and keeping – your dog’s attention, even in distracting environments. Our classes emphasize fun and positive motivation, not only for your dog, but for you as well! We incorporate real-life challenges to help make obedience practical and way more fun. Obedience 2: Stays, Walking & Recalls
In Obedience 2 we’ll focus on more advanced stays, walking politely on a leash and coming when called, critical skills for a well-behaved dog! Through fun games, your dog will learn to master more challenging behaviors. Prerequisite: Obedience 1 or equivalent skills. Obedience 1 & 2 Combo Workshop
Combines “levels” Obedience 1 and 2 classes in a 7 week sequential workshop. Learn basic manners, impulse control, leash walking, coming when called and much more! Dogs do not attend the first class. Pre-requisite: None.

Obedience 3: Canine Good Citizen
This class focuses on preparing you and your dog to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. We use fun games and activities to teach your dog to work through distractions and fine tune obedience skills. Prerequisite: Obedience 2 or equivalent skills. (Ongoing, join any time – Tues 7:45 pm and Sunday 10:00 am)
Designed for the dog with basic obedience training but no agility experience, you and your dog will learn the basics of obstacle management, development of control and confidence. Prerequisite: Obedience 1 or equivalent skills. (Next classes begin Wednesday, 10/15 from 8:00 – 8:50 pm, Thursday, 10/16 from 12:15 – 1:05 pm and Sunday, 10/19 from 3:00 – 3:50 pm)
This intermediate agility training series will help your dog develop more control and fluidity and begin to learn agility coursework and footwork. We’ll also troubleshoot some of the more pesky agility obstacles to develop speed. Prerequisite: Agility 1 or equivalent skills. (Ongoing, join any time – Wed 7:00 pm thru 10/8, Wed 6:00 pm beginning 10/15)
Advanced agility training emphasizes footwork and off-leash control. In this class, agility coursework and precision are emphasized. Prerequisite: Agility 2 or equivalent skills. (Ongoing, join any time – Thursdays 12:15 pm and Wednesdays 7:00 pm beginning 10/15)
Advanced handling and coursework encompassing all obstacles. Speed, attention to detail, and smooth progression through transitions will be emphasized. Prerequisite: Agility 3 or equivalent skills. (Ongoing, join any time – Sundays 1:45 pm beginning 8/3)
You’ve mastered the core agility skills and are ready to challenge yourself further! We’ll coach you through various obstacle combinations and drills to fine tune your handling and communication with your dog on the agility course. Come as many times as you like – every class is different so you’ll never be bored! Prerequisite: Agility 4 or equivalent skills. (Ongoing, Wed 1:30 pm)
We’ve got trophies, we’ve got whistles, we’ve even got a referee shirt. Once you and your dog have completed agility training, you can team up with your classmates for some friendly competition in this weekly Agility League, designed to keep you and your dog in tip-top shape. Prerequisite: Agility 4 or consent of instructor. (Ongoing, Thursdays at 8:00 pm)
Puppy 1: Puppy Preschool
Someday they’ll grow up. Just not yet. In the meantime, get your puppy off to the right start with our puppy preschool class. You’ll learn training and socialization tips to help your puppy develop into a well-adjusted life-long companion. Includes introduction to basic skills and group play time for the little ones. For puppies 8 to 16 weeks old. Prerequisite: Foundations of Dog Training (one hour class). (Ongoing, join any time – Thurs 11:00 am or Sat 10:00 am)
Puppy 2: Puppy Obedience
Our puppy obedience class focuses on age-appropriate behaviors in a fun, relaxed environment, designed to introduce your puppy to basic skills that every puppy needs to be a happier, more well-behaved dog. We introduce attention exercises, sit, down, and stay, as well as begin teaching loose-leash walking and coming when called. We’ll also tackle common problem puppy behaviors like jumping. For puppies three to six months old. Prerequisite: Foundations of Dog Training (one hour class). (Ongoing, join any time – Mon 5:30 pm or Sat 11:15 am)
A special class for puppies ages two to eight months, designed to be easy on growing joints and bones. This class emphasizes confidence-building for your puppy, and builds upon the foundation of great communication learned in Puppy Preschool, while also whetting his appetite for Agility. For puppies 8 weeks to 8 months old. Prerequisite: Foundations of Dog Training (one hour class). (Ongoing, join any time – Sundays at 9:00 am)
Tricks 1: Learning Dog Tricks
Every dog needs a few tricks, and some dogs need even more! This class covers the classic tricks like roll over, play dead, and sit up, but also covers more advanced behaviors like turning out the lights. This class is great for teaching focus around other dogs. Prerequisite: Obedience 1 or equivalent skills. (Next class start TBD)
SPECIAL TOPICS DOG TRAINING WORKSHOPS
Most workshops are six weeks long. Come When Called and Leash Walking are three weeks long.
You and your dog will learn fun scent games that you can play to engage your dog AND burn off some energy! We’ll teach your dog how to sniff out objects hidden around the house, like your cell phone. Perfect for dogs that are high-energy or home alone all day, we’ll get your dog thinking and using his sniffer. Prerequisite: Obedience 1 or equivalent skills. (Next class start TBD)
Is your dog a wallflower? If your dog is nervous meeting new people or fearful of places or things, we’ll show you how to help your dog overcome his fear and anxiety in a controlled environment. Perfect for rescue dogs. Prerequisite: None (Next class begins Saturday, 10/4 3:00 – 3:50 pm)
Therapy Dog Training
You’ve got the basics down. Now learn how to prepare for the Pet Partners temperament test for therapy dogs. This group class is designed to help you and your dog fine-tune your basic obedience skills by focusing special attention on good manners, control around distractions, introduction to hospital equipment, and therapy dog tricks. Prerequisite: Obedience 3 or equivalent skills. (Next Class Start TBD)
Rally Obedience 1
Challenge yourself and your pooch’s obedience skills through Rally-O! This is a fun and exciting team sport for dogs and their human companions involving navigation through courses with numbered signs that require specific obedience skills such as: Sit-Down-Sit, Figure 8s, Pivots, and Recall. Improve your dog’s focus while practicing challenging and unique courses. You will have an opportunity to join our Rally League for some friendly competition after you’ve learned the basics in class. Prerequisite: Obedience 3 or equivalent skills. (Next class begins Sunday, 10/5 12:45 – 1:35 pm)
Rally Obedience 2
You’ve mastered Novice Rally, now take your skills to the next level with this advanced Rally course! You’ll learn to perform skills off-leash from the Advanced and Excellent levels of Rally such as: Send Over Jump, Stand-Walk Around Dog, Sidestep and Heel Backwards. Challenge your teamwork as you navigate through more complex courses. Prerequisite: Rally 1. (Next class start TBD)
Come When Called
Does your dog come when called? If not, this is the class for you. We’ll work on establishing a rock solid recall, getting your dog to turn on a dime when he hears his name. This obedience class is essential for the safety and well-being of your dog. Enrollment includes a whistle and a long line training leash. Prerequisite: Foundations of Dog Training (one hour class). Taking your dog for a walk should be a joy, not a hassle. Do you walk your dog, or does your dog walk you? If you’ve got a pup who pulls, balks, lunges, leaps, squirms, and every verb other than walk when on leash, this class is for you. We’ll work on heeling, walking nicely on a loose leash and response to distractions. Prerequisite: Obedience 1 or equivalent skills. (Next class start TBD)
Does your dog get rambunctious, excited and uncontrollable? This class teaches self-control techniques to calm your dog around distractions. Perfect for adolescent dogs. Please note: This is not a class for aggressive dogs. Prerequisite: Obedience 1 or equivalent skills. (Next Class Start TBD)
Urban Herding (also known as Treibball) is the newest sport for the Zoom Room – think of it as herding without the sheep. Instead, dogs herd large exercise balls into a goal, using their noses to push the balls in the right direction. Any dog can do it and it’s tons of fun! It also develops an incredible bond between you and your dog and develops off-leash obedience and self-control. We’ll teach the basics of urban herding including distance control commands to get you started in this fabulous new dog sport. Prerequisite: Obedience 1 or equivalent skills. (Next Class Start TBD)
